Australian Federa Police Illegally Access Journalist’s Phone Without Warrant
In pursuit of information relating to a leak of confidential police information, the Australian Federal Police have illegally accessed a journalist’s call charge records and telecommunications metadata – and the contents of the calls without a warrant. The Commissioner dismissed press freedom concerns and called it “human error.”
